Events in 2006

Imbolc 2006

Geal-Darach's 2nd anniversary. We met at Bardwood Lodge for the customary ice-breaking and planting of the seeds with several visitors joining us.

Alban Eilir 2006

The vernal equinox moot was cancelled on short notice by the Chief due to his inability to act as host.

Bealtaine 2006

A fine day out at the Powderhorn Park May Day parade and Tree of Life pageant. This year, the sun did not have to struggle quite so hard to get across the lake! Taramoon, Alferian, and Brennan managed to find each other. Azrienoch and Andrea were marching in the parade with Impeach for Peace!

Alban Hefin, Summer Solstice 2006

Midsummer was celebrated over 4th of July weekend for three days, gathering to camp and visit the Grove of the Seven Sisters. The weather was fair and hot. No rain! Huzzah! No formal rituals were conducted, just a quiet meditation in the grove of oaks and much good conversation around the fire pit ranging from UFO's to Druid orders and Proto-Indo-European religion. In attendance were three students from Avalon Center as well as three of the Governors. The Chief's car broke down and had to be towed away to Lake City for a new starter, and the Chief's experiments using the CPAP machine in his tent were less than satisfactory. What did they do about sleep apnea in the Iron Age? Alferian, Taramoon and Mangan Tairis began discussing drafting bylaws and the status of non-OBOD grove members. Pika and Eric were absent in Maine. Azrienoch and Andrea dropped in for the Saturday but didn't stay the night.

Lughnasadh 2006

A slight fiasco with miscommunication of the time of the meeting resulting in all of us being at the park at different times and missing each other. A very beautiful day despite the miscommunication. Alferian resolved to get more organized and so the drafting of the articles of organization began in earnest.

Alban Elfed 2006

A successful rendezvous at the Grove of the Seven Sisters, attended by Alferian, Pika, and Eric and their wee lassies who helped consecrate our circle with purple irises. We feasted on Pika's five-grain bread and a fine Reisling, in the circle and then on quiche, potato salad, and chicken in the picnic area overlooking the Lake. The weather was once again lovely and the migrating pelicans on the river were fascinating entertainment. There was discussion of the new articles of organization and general consent to them among those present. There will be further opportunity for input at the Samhuinn gorsedd. On the way into the camp Alferian had the good omen of nine turkeys crossing the road coming down from the Tor, and leaving at dusk another breathtaking omen when he looked back up at the Tor and saw two deer standing and sniffing the ground where we had held our circle. Eric, acting as Herald in the ceremony, also had a good omen when calling the peace -- a hawk flew by in the East. We watched the equinoctical Sun set due West before heading home.
