Athames and Ceremonial Daggers

The Athame or ceremonial Dagger is another classic magical instrument used by many wizards and witches. The Dagger is often considered to be the implement of Elemental Air because of its two sharp edges, cutting, dividing, like the powers of the mind and language. Dissection and definition and the banishing of delusion are among its powers. The Athame is sometimes used by witches to cast circles and in pentagram banishing rituals. It is used in conjunction with the Chalice as a masculine symbol of insemination -- the planting of the symbolic seed of intention and light into the receptive, feminine vessel of the chalice. In some traditions the dagger is associated with elemental Fire as the masculine quality of transformation and action, paired with the chalice as feminine receptivity, Intention descending into Form.

I am not trained as a knife-maker, so these blades are intended only for ceremonial use. The instruments shown on this page were custom creations and are intended to give you ideas for your own custom order, should you desire a similar style athame.
